Job Summary
The Executive Director carries out the management of the functions of planning, organizing, staffing and directing the operations of the Healthy Start Coalition of Seminole County (HSCSC). The Executive Director is directly responsible to the governing Board of Directors.
Duties, Responsibilities and Authority:
Plans, develops and recommends to the Board policies and programs which will further the objectives of the Coalition. Executes all decisions, contracts and commitments as delegated by the Board.
Provides leadership and direction to all staff to ensure the mission and goals of the Coalition are effectively carried out.
Oversees the development and implementation of the Coalition’s Needs Assessment, approved Service Delivery Plan, Comprehensive Resource Inventory and allocation methodology of funds.
Prepares, maintains and submits accurate and appropriate reports describing planning and evaluation initiatives to the Board on all activities of the Coalition.
Works cooperatively with Coalition and community members and staff to assess the community’s needs for maternal and child health services.
Develops and implements health promotion programs as necessary. Coordinates coalition education programs and public information services.
Ensures fiscal stability of the organization through developing alternative sources of funding, including grants, contracts, and conducting fund raising activities.
Develops and operates within an annual budget; is responsible for prudent management of all funds and physical assts.
Provides training and technical assistance to staff, coalition memberships, contracted providers, community partners, etc. on issues that promote the Coalition’s mission and services.
Performs related work as assigned by the Board.
Knowledge, skills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Coalition memberships, community, staff and funders.
Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations and staff.
Knowledge of and/or experience with the geographical and/or cultural communities to be served.
Knowledgeable of community organizations and capable of carrying out programs within the community structure.
Ability to communicate in a diplomatic clear and concise manner, both orally and written.
Competent to represent the organization in a variety of public and professional forums.
Demonstrates the ability to compile, organize, and analyze data related to maternal and child health and school readiness indicators.
Ability to reach consensus on complex issues
Self-directed, motivated with the ability to effectively manage in a multi-tasking environment.
Represents the Coalition as a member of the Florida Association of Health Start Coalitions.
Proficiency with computer application software (i.e. Microsoft Office) and hardware.
Minimum Qualifications
An appropriate Bachelor degree and five years’ experience in public health or a related health/education field is required. A Master’s degree with related experience preferred.
Experience in management, supervision, knowledge of evaluating financial and internal controls, and grant writing is desired.
