Program Participant Information

Thank you for enrolling in Healthy Start! We are excited to be working with you and your family. Our goal is to ensure your baby gets the best possible start in life and that you have the support and services you need.

The following information on the program—highlighting our respective roles and responsibilities—will contribute to our success:

Program Basics
  • Healthy Start services are free and voluntary.
  • Your Healthy Start worker will provide education, screening, and support and connect you to community services in a comfortable, convenient setting, such as your home.
  • You will be notified within 48 hours if your Healthy Start worker changes.
Partnership and Respect
  • You and your Healthy Start worker will collaborate on your care.
  • You will be treated with respect and dignity as part of a supportive relationship with Healthy Start staff.
Appointments and Participation
  • You are expected to keep all appointments. Notify your worker at least 24 hours in advance if you must cancel.
  • Missing appointments without notice impacts the effectiveness of the program for you and our ability to assist other families.
Your Rights
  • You can ask for more information about any service offered.
  • You can accept or refuse services at any time. This won’t affect your continued participation.
  • All services, conversations, and records are private and confidential per state and federal laws.
  • You have the right to receive information in your preferred language or accessible format.
Complaints and Grievances
  • If you are unsatisfied with your treatment or services, you can submit a complaint through your local Healthy Start Coalition or contact us here.
  • Complaints are reviewed the same day or next business day and forwarded to the funding organization within two business days.
